Day 717 – Love

“[Jesus] said all this quite openly.” -Mark 8:32

Speaking openly about putting God first in life, speaking about God’s love, grace, mercy, and forgiveness for all people, and speaking about caring for the less fortunate and living in harmony with neighbors got Jesus killed. Not only are we told in this scripture passage that Jesus spoke openly about all these things, but later when Jesus was on trial, he reiterated that he’d been open in everything he’d taught and said.

Do we, as Christians, speak openly about God’s love in Jesus…about the mercy, love, and forgiveness that is a gift of grace? If not, why don’t we? Perhaps we are scared that someone will ask us questions about faith, or God, or Jesus, and we don’t believe we have good enough answers. Or maybe we aren’t sure what the correct way of speaking openly about our faith really is, so we stay quiet. It could be that we don’t want to offend anyone.

You have a unique story of God’s love for you in Jesus. It’s yours to tell. If you don’t, no one will.
