Day 713 – Share Hope
“…make your defense to anyone who demands from you an account of the hope that is in you; yet do it with gentleness and reverence.” (1 Peter 3:15-16)
We live in a broken world. Many people have put up emotional walls around themselves so they won’t get hurt. But it is these same walls that block out true hope, love, and care. God has gifted us with new life in Jesus and a constant hope that the world can be transformed through love.
People wonder about this love and this hope. They are often looking for a catch to trip us on. And sometimes to cast in our lives. I believe this is the point where a relationship can be made between Christ and the person asking about the hope that you have. There are many ways to share the story of Jesus’ impact on your life; the key is to do so with gentleness and reverence. That means don’t shove the story of love and salvation down someone’s throat. Take your time. Respect their questions. Respect their vulnerability. Respect their emotional walls. Allow your words to be the words of God.
